Rev. Ryan Koster was assigned to St. Columban Parish on June 4 and recently was welcomed with a reception at the church. Father Koster was born and raised in the northland of Kansas City. He attended Rockhurst High School, graduating in 2007. After graduation,
he attended the University of Dallas to study history. According to
Koster, his dream was to become a high school history teacher; however, after two years, he discerned that God was calling him to the seminary. He graduated from Conception Seminary College in 2011 and attended the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio.
Koster was ordained to the priesthood on May 23, 2015, and his first assignment was to teach full-time at Bishop LeBlond High School in St. Joseph. He taught there for three years and coached the boys and girls soccer teams. His next assignment was to St. Therese Parish in Parkville. During his time there,
he helped coach the soccer teams at St. Pius X High School.
